Stairs To The Alley

Many hours this morning and this evening taking photographs with nothing worth posting. Now its a night of seafood pasta, laundry and "Tibet, Tibet", the book I got this afternoon at LACMA (no photos there either). Posted by Picasa

At My Desk With Coffee #6

1.) This evening, while waiting to make a left hand turn onto Doheny from Santa Monica Blvd., I adjusted the volume on the radio and two speakers that I never knew I had kicked in. Suddenly The Supremes were asking me "Where Did Our Love Go?' from the back of my head. I've had this car for a year and a half and never knew I had four speakers. What else don't I know?
2.) Why, yes, that is a new camera. Its a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 with a Leica lens. Many, many other features but maybe the best is the stablization device. Thank you for noticing.
3.) An hour ago I turned on the wrong burner on the stove and nearly burned the house down.
4.) Putting glasses on William Holden in "Born Yesterday" to make him look brainy: Not convincing.
5.) I hope to watch not one single second of the Olympics. By the way, I've never seen one single second of "American Idol", any "Survivor" show, or "Lost". I hear that "Arrested Development", "24" and "The Sopranos" are good but I've never seen one single second of them either. Hmmm, this might be the beginning of a whole new category.
6.) I've never spent one single second scuba diving or mountain climbing. And I probably never will.

East Of West L.A. ("Wash")

"The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something."

Kurt Vonnegut
"A Man Without A Country"
